I had spotted this barn quite a bit ago. I have wanted to get permission to photograph it and today I got to do just that! It has a cupola on the very top and red, typical color for barns. It was a horse barn. On the sides of the walls it had windows with wooden flaps . One flap would open up and the next open down, interesting. I am guessing for circulation. It is a two story barn at least. I could see through the floor to the upper level and it was huge! What I could see though looks to be in very good condition. The outer walls are in bad shape but otherwise, if a barn can be beautiful this one was and especially as old as it is. I didn't get a name but I have been invited back. I may do just that and see if I can't get into the upper level. It has several small doors on the outer walls on different levels. I had seen the barn from the highway many times and today I had time to stop. The photo's are on Facebook and soon to be on the site.
On our way home we spotted another old house and barn...............so guess where I will be going next?
We drove by the Stephens barn that I had photographed a few months ago and it was so sad to see the old barn demolished. Most of the lumber has been hauled away. I am so glad I got the opportunity to photograph it.
These buildings are history and I wonder what stories they could tell!?
